Three Good Bible Sermons Preparation Advice
June 19th, 2009 | by christionsgoodies |So, you want to write a sermon. This is very challenging, especially if you've never written one before. Where do you start? What will be your topic? Are you using any Bible verses for your sermon? How do you tie everything up in a neat little bow? Are you confident enough? After all, a lot of scripture is open to interpretation. So, if you're wracking your brain trying to write that sermon, the following 3 suggestions should help you out in composing good Bible Sermons.
Writing Bible Sermons
Start by selecing a specific Bible verse or chapter that you can to talk about. This will help you to be more focused in your preparations. For instance, if the sermon message is on "Crucifixion", you will be wasting your time if you look at the "Noah's Ark". Having specific bible verse or topic in mind can help your message more powerful and it will be much easier to write too.
If possible, start your sermon with a story, preferably a personal one. Try to make it a humorous one if you can. The logci behind this for this is because you don't want the congregation falling asleep on you. If you dive right into the theological stuff right off the bat, you have a high chance of losing some of your congregation. Afterall, Jesus used parables (ie. stories) to start some of his sermons and the pastors should follow His examples too.
Finally, you want to keep your sermon brief. A wise minister used to say, if you can't get your point across in under 10 minutes, then it wasn't worth getting across in the first place. A good method to keep your sermon short is to keep your sermon notes in point forms. Many suggested that having three to four bullet forms will be good enough.
As a conclusion, my advice is that pastors and preachers should look at the Lord as the giver of wisdom. Praying and fasting before staring a sermon preparation will be a good idea and you should have the inspirations to write a Spirit-fill message.
