Catholic Audio Education for the masses!
We live in times in which so many of us are stressed out. It seems that at no time in history have so many people experienced so many health-related {diseases, problems} linked to stress.
I think one of the main reasons for this is that we have forgotten our raison d'etre, our reason for being. One might ask, "What is the purpose of life?"? Simple. To know, love, and serve God in this life so that we may spend eternity with Him in the next. Why is it we have forgotten this?Because we haven't been educated properly in the Christian, Catholic faith.
We have high school diploma's, bachelor's degrees, masters degrees, PhD's in things of the world, and a 2nd or 3rd grade education in the things of God! Yet, we will only live 100 years or so, if we're lucky, and we will spend an eternity in heaven or hell! We're spending our time and efforts in all the wrong places. We're being incredibly short-sighted.
So, what to do? Easy.We need to begin educating ourselves. We don't have to go overboard and lose our minds. If we just study a little bit every day, in addition to having a habitual prayer life, we can make great strides in a short period of time.
You can find a lot of great stuff on the Internet to help you study the faith. One of my favorite approaches is to download free Catholic audio files, usually in .MP3 format, and either copy them to an MP3 player or iPod, or just listen to them on my PC. Or, you can burn them to a CD and play them in your CD player. I like to listen to good Catholic audio talks on my way to or back from work. I commute about 140 miles (round trip) per day. I usually start off by listening to and praying with the Rosary on CD, that I downloaded. Then, I listen to one of the many talks on whatever topic I might be interested in that day, like a talk by {Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, Dr. Peter Kreeft, Fr. Larry Richards}, and many others. To this end, one of the best sources I've found for free, orthodox (means "right teaching") Catholic audio sites is Alabama Catholic Resources. It won't cost you a cent. There's very little extraneous stuff to distract you. And it's well organized.

What’s the most effective threat religious leaders can make to keep people from converting to other religions?
about 3 months ago - 20 comments
The threat of being physically tortured for all of eternity doesn’t seem to be very effective anymore. Would the threat of execution be a more effective way to keep people from taking their religious donations elsewhere?
If so, are there any religions which use this tactic?

How the Age of Enlightenment has Affected Our Society
about 1 year ago - No comments
I have seen a constant, but almost imperceptible (to most folks) change in our culture that is having very negative, long-range implications. America is moving away from God towards secular humanism, both in the government as well as in private life. This is more easily seen in younger people than old.

Religious Rosaries – Gang Symbols?

natisha asked: Religious rosaries are fast acquiring the status of gang symbols- a ludicrous thought isn’t it?
