This is the true story of Our Lady of Fatima. Much was left out in the movie that can be read in books on the subject and the acting is not good, but this was expected. I recommend the book 'Our Lady of Fatima prophesies of hope or tragedy' which is a detailed account of everything concerning Fatima. An excellent book that can be obtained at [...]. or by the author William Thomas Walsh. Still, the movie is worth the buy in order to add to your Catholic collection and to remind ourselves that Mary Most Holy is active in the world scene to help and guide us.

Having been blessed to have a wonderful Portuguese born mother, I grew up knowing the special story of the "beautiful lady of Fatima". Having also visited the shrine, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, how lovely the shrine and story are. I own this film, a gift from my brother, and as I write this review my eyes are full of tears. You do not have to be a catholic or even a believer of the virgin Mary, but this film is a honest and simple telling of what happened in a small Portuguese village in 1917. You may be wonderfully surprised!

The girl playing Lucis is much too old for the part.<br>She looks like she is l4 or 15 years old. The real<br>Lucia was only ten years old at the time of the<br>apparitions. The other two children are extremely<br>poor actors and not believable at all.<p>There was no need to add Gilbert Roland's character to<br>the story. It only dragged the story down.

  	 The absolut rumor , August 11, 2006
<br />Reviewer:	Giordano Bruno (Portugal) - See all my reviews
<br />Or as we could say, "Everything you dont need to know about the true Fatima events". Yes, the old rumor is a conquerer of our crowds, without chances to know the real and original reports about
<br />Fatima events. Do they really know, ie. that the Portuguese daily press pubished in February 1917 a few reports made by Spiritist groups in Lisbon and Porto ( the major national cities )announced that "in May 13 a great anounce would happen". Well, the catholics believers can not see here a proof for their devotion; by the contrary, the Spiritists don't agree with the official Marian apparitions interpretation and they would not be the promotors of the present Fatima status. So, it's nonsense to think in a conspiracy catholic-spiritist in this preannounce in the portuguese press with 3 months in advance.
<br />So, the traditional interpretation has to be revised. The believers will have to know the original reports on the phenomena and not pious third-hand slogans that repeat the well known rumor processs in Psychology. Who said that the Marian apparitions never could be understand by Science is mistaken. Try to read
<br />"Heavenly lights" and "Celestial Secrets" by Portuguese historians Dr. Joaquim Fernandes and Fina d'Armada to learn what happened at Fatima 1917.

Although this film is surprisingly well-done in terms of cinematography, it panders rather inexplicably to the dubious theme. The Fatima Visions were the shady, second-rate, and rather deceptive works of a Lourdes-copycat named Lucia dos Santos. Unlike the Lourdes apparitions, which resonate with a shocking simplicity, the gaudy, overbaked and hysterical messages given by the "Lady" of Fatima ( and the various angels and plastic-like 'saints' who also made cameo appearances) border on the ludicrous and insane.The "messages" of Fatima are rife with awkward, starch-stiff, bland prayers obviously confected by the local priests who were doubtless influencing (and coaching) these children, and the catastrophic warnings of the lady (not to mention constant, annoying self-references to her Immmaculate Heart) are further proof of a detached, bizarre and ultimately typical Catholicism. Fatima is perhaps the poorest quality and most transparently contrived religious hoax of the 20th century, but even then it has done some good in getting people to pray, so keep this in mind when watching this film about a very deceitful religious "event."

these ravensburger large floor puzzles are ideal for preschoolers or early elementary age child. i have 5 of them and my lil boy loves them and begs to work them when he visits.
<br />they are durable and sturdy, and pieces fit well even after months of use, unlike the cheaper varieties.

I wrote a movie review for my English class a few years ago. And it was on Flywheel.
<br />
<br />Fly Wheel is a great movie about a car dealer that has a change of heart. In this review I will talk about the great acting, the wonderful music and the heart warming story.
<br />
<br />First I will talk about the great acting. I love how the mom just casually says "we are having fruit for dinner, is that okay with you?" and how the husband says "That's Fine." Without asking why are we having fruit for dinner and were you just lazy so you chopped a watermelon in half? The kids face expression makes him look like he is mentally retarded which really goes with how he talks. I also want to mention the clean versions of swears on this movie like "That Scum Sucking Snake!" or "What In The Jumping Jack's Is Going On In Here!" , these quotes really go with the quality of the movie... bad.
<br />
<br />I would also like to mention the music in this movie which is the best thing about this movie because there is none.
<br />
<br />The last thing that I would like to mention is the heart warming story. It is about a car dealer that rips people off but then has a change of heart and becomes a fair car dealer, and this not all that happens, he also gets his kid to not be proud of him and gets his wife pregnant and umm... that's about it. Ok the story may sound half decent but it is horrible to watch and it does not run smoothly and in some parts of the story it does not make any sense at all.
<br />
<br />Ok, so the movie is not so great, but it is a must see for people don't believe it is this bad. I could genially say that this is the worst movie I have ever seen.
<br />
<br />
<br />Yes. I sadly picked this movie off the self of Blockbuster.

If you are unable to find religion courses at any local college or university, look at religious studies programs that offer online course formats. Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA is one that comes to mind. Regent is a fully accredited school that offers both ground and online classes from a Christian perspective. You could also look at on line formats within other faith based schools, if you are looking for a particular faith/denomination, by doing a web search.

Then talk to your school's financial aid office to see if it is possible for you to have any options within your fa package to cover the tuition at another school with concurrent enrollment. Your academic advisor should also be able to help with you with specifics regarding concurrent enrollment policies and procedures.

Another option is to explore if the graduate school of your choice offers undergraduate courses and take them there.

Once you graduate with your BA, you'll only be able to take undergraduate courses as a non-degree seeking student, a designation which makes you ineligible for financial aid. I encourage you to take as many as you can before you graduate in order to manage the cost of tuition.

Good luck to you.

The only reason why I did not give it one star is because I do believe in faith and following Christ. The main character does a decent job acting but the rest are, well, not good at all. The plot is so elementary. I also think it gives young Christians the wrong message: that if you just pray hard enough and with enough sincerity, He will magically take care of your problems. As I said, I do believe in faith, but it doesn't work out like this movie. Whether you are a believer ot not, life still has consequences & we must perservere even if we pray diligently. I know he went out and acted on his mistakes too, but we all know that it would have been nearly impossible to find all of those people. Think about driving from town to town too.
<br />
<br />The people in this movie had an unbelievable house...I was like, the seem to be pretty concerned material possessions. Also, when he figured he might be going out of business, why wasn't he looking for a NEW JOB? God expects us to HELP OURSELVES you know?
<br />
<br />I just thought it was extremely simplistic and pretty corny. It reminded me of why I am still a Christian, but no longer a Southern Baptist.

When I first heard about this film, I was told it was made by a church, so I didn't expect much. But I was truly amazed at how warm, how funny and how truly wonderful this movie really is.
<br />
<br />Flywheel tells the story of Jay Austin, a morally-bankrupt used car dealer who thinks of church (and God) as something you visit on Sundays, but don't really incorporate into your daily life. When he finally submits his life fully to God, things change in a radical and sometimes funny way.
<br />
<br />No, some of the acting isn't as professional as it could be, but the story itself is so strong, you find yourself not caring. Flywheel made me laugh, made me cry, and made me think about my own life and how much of it I am still holding onto rather than yielding to Christ. I also loved the powerful example of a man yielding his life to God. Jay Austin realizes his need for Christ without appearing weak or preachy. My ten-year-old son watched it several times and we had great conversations about it afterward.
<br />
<br />A simply great film.  This one's a classic.

It's cool, I'm not trying to attack you personally, just the conception. The news you're referring to may in fact be the same report I was made aware of. The principle evidence in the lawsuit was a document written in 1993 that has since been disproved. At one point there was some incidental evidence that seemed to provide a correlation between the two but no evidence has been found to bridge or prove that correlation, and in fact evidence has been found to prove there's even less of a link.

No need to blame these two douchebags being assholes on their 'Christianity' or their 'beliefs'. Doing that only takes the blame off the two sacks of shit who deserve all the scorn.

Ah, you totally, and I mean totally, misread this comment. The 'two douchebags' refers to the assholes in the video. Also, I say NOT to attack them for being Christian but to attack them because they're ignorant megalomaniacs.
You seem prone to misunderstanding.

well gee, newbie, that father and daughter sure are narrow-minded! i personally think that any news report highlighting any attempt to ban a book on book banning should be taken off air. i won't say banned, but just made permanently unavailable to the public.

Praise God for the courage of these people to stand up and speak out against the slithering wickedness that is being injected into our school systems. There are forces at work that would seduce the young and inplant their ungodly ideas into their minds. Teaching them through subtleties. Various anti-Christ ideas and teachings are moving forward to further corrupt the minds of the youth. This book is an example of one such tactic. Help us LORD! Please turn us to You!

Read some actual bio/geo-history. This shit's been around for ages. Try googling "Black Death" and "Medieval Climate Optimum" for starters. As for the global warming, you really think it's god's work? Read about CO2.

There are thousands of people with good hearts around the world who want to help. Unfortunately, without the right kind of training and preparation, those who are managing to get to Haiti are winding up in danger themselves.

Read this for some samples: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/21/us/21charity.html

Foreign (including U.S.) health insurance is not valid in Haiti, and there is no way to get around. There is no food, water, sanitation, or electricity for anyone. Volunteers who are injured, for example by breaking a limb, have have no painkillers, no doctor, no treatment, and no way to get home.

Please read this article about the trouble that well intentioned people are causing: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34958965/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/

there is no " caste" in Haiti, almost everyone is black and the country is 70% christians.
The churches of the western world are rallying to get help to Haiti as fast as possible so are the " christian" countries of the world. in the meantime that "other religion" is taking advantage of the eyes of the world being focused on something other than them and suicide bombing up a storm in afghanistan.and i haven't heard a word from Saudi Arabia about whether they will put a penny of their oil dollars toward helping the hatians out at all..

@Tom6093 With regards to Earthquakes, its estimated that the Earth has like 50 a day (just very small ones). Back in the day (like 1930 or so) there was only like 400 stations to monitor such activity, now there is something like 8000 stations. SO its probably not an increase in Earthquakes, just Earthquakes we are able to MONITOR. Also i'd like to see any evidence you have that there have been any more tsunamis lately than, say a thousand years ago. Theres reports of tsunamis in biblical times.

I'm honestly wondering if many of those folks who gave this 5-star rave reviews saw the same film as I have, several times...
<br />
<br />First, you need to separate the subject matter from the film. Just becauise the film is about the life of Jesus doesn't automatically make it an untouchable masterpiece of cinema.
<br />While I definitely give Stevens his props -- there are some truly magnificently-done scenes here, and the film as a whole remains watchable -- the attempt to, it seems, put most of Hollywood in the film willy-nilly almost sunk the whole thing. In addition, certain elements of Christ's life one would consider key are completely glossed over.
<br />
<br />Von Sydow (who incidentally, may be the only actor to have played both Jesus and Satan, not to mention an exorcist) tries; he really does. He makes an interesting Christ, certainly far more believable than Jeffrey Hunter's blue-eyed, always immaculately-groomed version in King of Kings. His acting ranges from OK to incredible, and he's on-screen for almost the entire film. He brings a definite sincerity and warmth to the role, even if the scipt gets a bit too heavy-handed at times, but in the final analysis, his peformance alone isn't enough to sustain the whole movie.
<br />
<br />The rest of the cast is split between just OK or just plain wrong/bad. Dorothy Macquire as Mary was... well, an unexpected choice, but she actually fared far better than many others. The actress who played Mary Magdeline was completely mediocre;in this film, maybe Claudia Cardinale would've been the best choice.
<br />Claude Rains could've phoned in his part. Sidney Poiter,Roddy M, Martin Landau and even Sal MIneo were surprisingly effective.
<br />But some of the other casting was just strange or ill-conceived.
<br />Watch the film objectively and see if you don't agree with some of this:
<br />
<br />Both Heston and Ferrer (and even Pleasance) were WAY over the top, and not in a good way at all. Telly Savalas looked like he was bored, and delivered his lines appropriately. The Barabbas scene was flatter than a surfboard. Victor Buono tried too hard to be slimy. Angela Lansbury is a great actress, but was completely wasted here. Van Heflin was trying too hard. Ed Wynn as Isiah and Shelly Winters as a healed person? Huh? And of course, the crown jewel; John Wayne as the Roman officer supervising the crucifixion. His one line brings the definition of "wooden" to dizzying new heights.
<br />They're only some; there are scores more of miscasts. And yes, while many of them are indeed little more than cameos, they all add up to derail the film from what it could've been. As it stands, you actually find yourself laughing at some of the performances. A sincere effort, but too ambitious overall.

Are you a woman? sh0nin? if you don't mind me asking.

because you clearly.... lack some ability here.

I made if perfectly clear that you saying that it was a lie was not what made me mad. I made that perfectly clear. What did i say? think hard. I said.... you questioning my integrity was what made me mad.

You know what I think? You are a fucking bitch. Nothing more nothing less.

Mistake bluntness for smugness? perhaps. But what followed has only backed it up as smugness.

A classic example of overblown insensitive Hollywood biblical-epic filmaking. Unlike the sensitively told and awe-inspiring King Of Kings, TGSET is an overlong and unmoving experience for the viewer from start to finish, from it's corny cinematography (which makes the movie look like a Hallmark greeting card come to life) to it's unbelievably crass casting, including Pat Boone, Shelly Winters, and most notoriously John Wayne as a Roman soldier("this truly was the son of Gaawd!"). Among all the hammy scenery-chewing acting, the only person to really shine is the wonderful Max Von Sydow who sensitively attempts to portray Jesus, though his Swedish accent kind of ruins everything. Film fans would be much better off buying King Of Kings or The Gospel According To Matthew.

So you want to make me squirm? You want to push my buttons? For a while there.... I thought I was arguing with a man. But since you answered me last night. My gut feeling tells me that you are a woman. So I went above your head, and you refuse to move the conversation to a higher level. You just want to piss me off. I'm sorry I wasted my time with you.

Perhaps your statement made me uncomfortable? Fuck yes it did. Did I not make that clear enough for you?

I think your ego has grown so large through these types of conversation that you cannot possibly lose one. I read your last response and I think...

What is wrong with this individual?

I have given you plenty of jumping off points and chances to redeem yourself. I told you exactly how I felt about it. Yet you keep going back... back to that high horse. I'm saddened by your response really. Because you're just another one of them. Those people you think you're different from. You're one of them.

I have given you plenty of jumping off points and chances to redeem yourself. I told you exactly how I felt about it. Yet you keep going back… back to that high horse.
and so Sh0nin.....

I don't know what to say anymore. You think that what you said made me uncomfortable? as if what you said was going to change my mind? or cause me to 'open my eyes'. No, not at all.

I'm trying to help you. Help you to stop being such a terrible person.

"You confuse me, sir" ?! who the hell am I talking to?

I think you're the one who needs to learn. You are the one who has lost sight of reality. I just hope you heard me.

Did I demand an apology? Or did I say that was all you would need to do to redeem yourself in my eyes? So you declined... and I moved on.

Have I embarrassed you enough? Made your blood boil? Even in the slightest? Or will I get more of the same from you Sh0nin?

"Oh!! no!! didn't get me!! I'm smarter than you- ha ha!"

Grow up!!! Realize that people have the ability to believe in something while recognizing the odds. Your fantasy of superiority is a lie. Thats right!! a lie.

Hmm... wasn't expecting the insensitivity. Perhaps you should adapt to society, because if you have any friends, I doubt you used that attitude to acquire them. Perhaps you are too ignorant to realise that.
I must stress that what you are attacking is not only people's beliefs, but what keeps them going.
I at least hope that you are not ignorant enough not to heed my message.
God bless.

The quote was "the eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility. " I do not see how the Chaos Theory or the Big Bang comes into play here. Are you implying that order comes out of disorder? Which is not what the Chaos Theory is about btw, but is that your assumption?

@jtlabs
The pont is that you attempted to leech Einstein's credibility for your own position, by quoting him referring to Spinoza's God (a belief that would still be directly opposed to your Christianity), while Spinoza's God was famously disproven and tortured Einstein until the end of his days.
You dumb dishonest piece of shit, you have no idea what you're talking about when you refer to Einstein's life or beliefs, but you love the opportunity to exploit a dead man, don't you?

Now I know why this movie was nicknamed 'The Slowest Story Ever Told'. The only thing I particularly liked was Alfred Newman's great music score. He cleverly uses bits form Handel's Messiah and Verdi's Requiem and composes a Bach-like music that caries much of the picture through it's dullest moments.<p>I think all the scenes could have done in half the time and I think that would've given a likeable movie. But not this way.<br>I got bored and my legs sored at the end.

This ranks down there with "Gospel Of john" as my least favorite Biblical movies.The horrible acting and dialog are totally devoid of feeling.My favorite in this theme,is still "King Of Kings",and though Jeffrey Hunter plays another blue-eyed Jesus,in my opinion this is still the ONLY Biblical movie with a truly likeable Jesus character and that whole film really touches me,where the above two mentioned,make me feel nothing!The acting is so bad that both of those actually make me feel aggravated! Sorry, but "King Of Kings" rules for me!

yes, for the most part, a country's success and quality of life is better with no religion (sweden, etc.). but look at ireland: one of the most religious places around, and they've got the 3rd highest GDP per capita. also, look at china, ukraine, russia, etc.: atheist, terrible quality of life. so this doesn't apply to everything.

I think you've hit on something there. There are definite similarities between religion and communism. Both lead to huge misallocation of resources, persicution of those who speak out and benefit the few at the expense of the many...

An albino is born due to recessive alleles on the DNA. God gives us life. The way we look is up to our parent's DNA in our chromosomes that we received from them at conception. It is a result of no pigmentation in the skin, hair and eyes. Some albino's still have a colored iris. It is not typical but, it happens. We are the ones that brought sin into the world making us not perfect anymore. Yes, I believe in the ice age. Check out Creation Science. Am I suppose to be stupid because I love Jesus and is saved?

god created albinos for certain reasons that we may not know, but in my opinion, god created them to show us that, we are equal. no matter what races or complexion colours are you, we are all the same, we are human. let say, the blacks are known as dark skin colour and the whites are mostly white colour. for some years, the blacks were disregarded by the whites for their complexion, so god had created some blacks with extra white complexion to show that any man could be as white as them, just like m. jackson. it doesn't matter what colour are you, but the most crucial thing is our hearts. they are all connected.

lol "more religious a country is?" Who ever did this test probably has a low IQ and bet he isn't religious. The testing should have tested relious people vs. atheists. Not state vs state vs etc. If those are test results, they aren't of every citizen. What if in a "religious country" you accidently tested most of the people who were atheist? High possibility. Just saying. ;) As for this test, get someone who actually follows the scientific method. ;o

God sets our life's up with certain challenges. Even rich people have challenges in life. God is perfect and could never make a mistake. Why did he make some people dark and some people light, why did he make us the way he did. And no i can't say i believe in the ice ages if there was a time when the earth froze it wasn't for millions of years considering the earth isn't that old

Conversations on YouTube never go anywhere; I'm glad you're one of the few people who can see that. A 500 character limit is ridiculously, atrociously short, and now I generally avoid the urge to start a debate at what I perceive as grossly flawed logic, because we all just end up frustrated as hell trying to articulate a comprehensive argument on complex issues with such a super-short limit.

I thought YouTube was bought out by Google, and Google was usually more cool about these things...

i believe there are more atheists in the more metropolitan cities, where everyone is generally more educated and exposed to varying beliefs. that is why, i think, it is not true that smarter people are just atheists, but that people of higher IQ and are in metropolitan cities are just exposed to more beliefs.

nothing like that can be proved by something as simple as a graph, lets be honest here. most atheists ive met are only atheists because they think its "fashionable"

I don't think Russia is full of atheists, my roommate was from Russia and he wasn't.
And Russia is a big place and cold. It's hard to make such a country highly inhabitable. Ukraine is the neighbor of Russia and feels it's political pressure and is probably cold too.
China is overpopulated.

So those aren't best examples for the exceptions on the video's message, I think.

Chris Smith did a marvelous analysis of the religious and spiritual life of teens in the United States. I am using this comprehensive research to assist us as we plan for the teens in our parish. The analysis is "user friendly" and certainly touches on a very important part of the lives of our teens.

       This book is by no means the final say on teens and religion in the United States of America. It's a statistical survey which attempts to get to the heart of US teens so that the readers may truly understand contemporary kids and their relationship with God and religion. However, there are some basic flaws: it does not treat Catholic fairly and it just about ignores Muslims altogether.
<br />
<br /> The surveyors use statistical categories which are inaccurate and misleading. They categorize Protestants into three categories: Conservataive Protestant, Mainline Protestants, and Black Protetants. These groups are each compared to one large dumping group called "Roman Catholics", and "Roman Catholics" come out at the bottom of the barrel each time. No surprise. Why? Because it was an unfair comparison. Had they compared Conservative Protestants with Catholic youth who consider themselves "conservative", it would have been a fair an accurate comparison. The percentage numbers indicating their understanding of their faith, their religious life, etc, would have been comparable. Similarly they would have produced a more accurate and fair result had they compared the Mainline Protestant youth with the average once-a-week-Cathlic who is educated at CCD, and the Black Protestant youth, who tend to be Penecostal and Baptist in many cases, with Catholic Charismatic youth who are similar in their worhship and living out of their faith. This casuses the survey to be deeply flawed in my opinion. Whether or not it was intentional is not for me to judge. I believe it simply shows ignorance of the Catholic community rather than malicious intent, but nonetheless it flaws the results.
<br />
<br /> The other categories which were thrown into the mix were Morman/Latter Day Saints, Jewish, and in some tables, No Religion at all when appropriate. Muslims were left out altogether.
<br />
<br /> It's section on Catholic youth, while accurate in that the section highlghted three intereviews with three "Catholics", did in fact, give a distorted image of Catholic Youth in general because among these three "representative" Catholic youth interviewed, not one was really religious, or understanding of their faith. Not one had even been EDUCATED IN A CATHOLIC SCHOOL! Why did they not at least choose ONE student who had through the Cathoic school system. That would have been fair and representative of the Catholic population. It almost seems as though they went out of their way to find the least religious, most ill-educated of Catholic youths to represent the whole group. I really believe this was an enormous flaw.
<br />
<br /> I shared one of the case studies, "Heather", with some youth I know. They were appalled at the lack of information this young women had in terms of her faith, and were embarassed that she should have been chosen to represent them, young Catholics.
<br />
<br /> In addition to this, the treatment of contemporary Catholic adults, while, again, true in part, leaves something to be desired as well. It is true that many contemporary Catholic adults have become successful and engaged in their careers and communities. The authors imply that this demonstrates that they have,in effect, abandoned their faith. I believe that this does not mean that they have abandoned their faith at all; they have been assimilated into the society are large and "look" like the rest of the community. Isn't that a good thing? If Catholics had not assimilated, then they would be accused of being "radical" or "fundamentalist". Also, it is precisely because of the education they received in the CATHOLIC SCHOOLS of the nineteen fifties and sixities, AND/OR because of the Catholic Chrisitan values and ethics which formed them, handed onto them by thier religious, Catholic immigrant grandparents and parents, in some cases, that they have become so successful in the world today. How about a CHEER for Catholic schools and Catholic families??
<br />
<br /> These are just some of my criticisms. To sum up, I was disappointed and frustrated in the book. However, to give the book its due, the authors did put in a tremendous amount of statistical and research work, and it could serve as a great discussion starter. There is certainly value for those who read it, and in a sense it has accomplished its goal in that it certainly makes one search one's soul. Thank you.

They categorize Protestants into three categories: Conservataive Protestant, Mainline Protestants, and Black Protetants. These groups are each compared to one large dumping group called “Roman Catholics”, and “Roman Catholics” come out at the bottom of the barrel each time. No surprise. Why? Because it was an unfair comparison. Had they compared Conservative Protestants with Catholic youth who consider themselves “conservative”, it would have been a fair an accurate comparison.

     The other categories which were thrown into the mix were Morman/Latter Day Saints, Jewish, and in some tables, No Religion at all when appropriate. Muslims were left out altogether.

     It’s section on Catholic youth, while accurate in that the section highlghted three intereviews with three “Catholics”, did in fact, give a distorted image of Catholic Youth in general because among these three “representative” Catholic youth interviewed, not one was really religious, or understanding of their faith.

     I shared one of the case studies, “Heather”, with some youth I know. They were appalled at the lack of information this young women had in terms of her faith, and were embarassed that she should have been chosen to represent them, young Catholics.

     In addition to this, the treatment of contemporary Catholic adults, while, again, true in part, leaves something to be desired as well. It is true that many contemporary Catholic adults have become successful and engaged in their careers and communities. The authors imply that this demonstrates that they have,in effect, abandoned their faith. I believe that this does not mean that they have abandoned their faith at all; they have been assimilated into the society are large and “look” like the rest of the community. Isn’t that a good thing? If Catholics had not assimilated, then they would be accused of being “radical” or “fundamentalist”.

    These are just some of my criticisms. To sum up, I was disappointed and frustrated in the book. However, to give the book its due, the authors did put in a tremendous amount of statistical and research work, and it could serve as a great discussion starter. There is certainly value for those who read it, and in a sense it has accomplished its goal in that it certainly makes one search one’s soul. Thank you.

Subhumans Religeous Wars.
Nice.
A bit of good old fashioned angry shouty Punk.
Of course I couldn't help but spot the old Religeon/Anti Religeon argument and saw some interesting if unfounded statistics such as "more people have died in the name of God than any other cause" which is not strictly true.

More people have died in the name of death than religeon but how many of you are trying to stop death.
Stop wars? Easy.
Try stopping death it's impossible.
That's real Punk that is.

Maybe I meant religion too but you'll have to find out for yourselves or whether I was implying relig-eon subliminally hinting at my own belief system and the concept of the religeon being an outdated theological structure from past ages that had long since been closed to it's intended believers???

While I have not read the book yet, I've read to completion all of John Spong's most recent works, have heard him speak, attended a retreat he led and, therefore, know him personally. His writing has challenged my assumptions about the Christian faith and I look forward to reading the book, which obviously places Jesus in an historical context rather than a context that is hard to believe. I expect to be compelled and unable to put the book down, which is why I haven't started to read it!
